Challenge
Mobilise public opinion and put pressure on our MPs. The Climate Coalition, representing more than 130 organisations, wanted thousands of people from every corner of Britain to attend the biggest climate lobby the UK has ever seen, to tell their MPs that ‘The Time Is NOW’ for climate action.
Solution
Demonstrate how concerned people are about climate change and its potential impact on future generations. Use research to show how all people, from all walks of like, all faiths, all backgrounds want to get involved. The lobby also provided people with a chance to connect with their MP to demand strong climate action.
Result
Secured > 500 articles so far with an estimated online/print reach of more than 960 million. Highlights included BBC News, Today Programme, Sky News (broadcast), BBC Newsround, The Guardian, The Independent, Evening Standard, Metro, PA and more than 400 regional media articles.
Impact
More than 16,000 attended the UK’s biggest ever lobby on climate change and more than 380 MPs came out to meet their constituents, wildly exceeding expectations, and as a direct result of the media coverage achieved.
