Challenge
Raise awareness of the significant issue of litter whilst helping Hubbub to develop a litter action plan for future roll out and a coalition of companies and councils to take it forward.
Solution
Set up launch photocall with the Naked Binmen in Villiers Street, Charing Cross, the dirtiest street in London. Supported by a consumer survey on the nation’s frustrations on litter, we set up a series of interviews with Hubbub and Jeremy Paxman, Clean Britain Campaign. Followed by regional launches across the UK.
Result
The campaign generated a total of x5 broadcast features, x8 print and x6 online pieces of coverage. Total of > 20 pieces of coverage, with a reach of over 8 million. Coverage included BBC, ITV, Daily Mail, The Sun, ITV.com, Blue and Green Tomorrow and Resource.
Impact
Neat Streets pilot project to clean up litter has been scaled to further towns and cities across the UK. The ‘Ballot Bins’ were such a hit that Hubbub have created a new social enterprise to sell the product, now sold all over the world.
