WCF Europe (November 17 – 18) is a leading digital event harnessing the international movement towards net-zero. As part of the World Climate Forum 2020 regional series, this event is expected to deliver impactful and scalable solutions that will contribute significantly to resolving the climate emergency.
The Forums will be hosted online with strategic stakeholder engagement opportunities before, during and after the Forums take place. Each Forum will have regionally-focused agendas and outcomes, with an overall international focus in promoting a global green economic recovery and solutions to critical climate issues.
Initiated by World Climate Foundation, the Forums build on the ten-year success of World Climate Summit—the leading platform for driving policies, projects, and public-private partnerships alongside the COP negotiations.
Key themes
By expanding on World Climate Summit’s approach and focusing on regional and international climate action opportunities, the Forums will accelerate the realisation of solutions across energy, transport, finance, heavy industry and natural resource management.
This will provide governments with the opportunity to transform their climate ambitions into successful markets for climate business and major players across the world. The World Climate Forums will focus on innovation, policy, and investment as key drivers and themes for a low-carbon economy.
Why now?
In order to confront our climate and sustainability challenges, we need faster action and delivery. The World Climate Forum is therefore key in linking markets and policies, motivating a green economic recovery, climate action, and building momentum in 2020 towards World Climate Summit and COP26.
What’s more WCF Europe (November 17 – 18) aligns with London Climate Action Week (LCAW) (November 14-20), a high-level stakeholder digital event.
Interactive Format
The WCF Europe has an engaging hybrid format that combines digital conference and live event formats through dynamic keynotes, interactive panel discussions and workshops delivered across webinars and podcasts produced to the highest standard via live and on-demand.
In addition, World Climate Forum will have unique “engagement hubs” that will facilitate collaboration, solution development, and will better engage key customer and influencer groups, allowing for best practices to be developed, defined, and shared through the web-based platform.
Outcomes of WCF Europe
The WCF 2020 Series is grouping together stakeholders leading to a culmination of solutions, partnerships, and outcomes at World Climate Summit 2021 in order to:
- Advance a strong interplay between markets and policies.
- Define the key areas for solution development.
- Engage the key stakeholder groups to facilitate the development and scaling of best practices through each session and Forum.
