Context and challenge
Coral reefs beyond national borders are among the least understood and most vulnerable ecosystems on Earth. The Coral Reefs of the High Seas Coalition brings together leading scientists, conservation organisations and policy experts to discover, document and protect these extraordinary habitats before they are lost.
As the coalition prepared for the High Seas Treaty entering into force, it needed a stronger public identity that could communicate complex science, showcase the breadth of its expertise and engage policymakers, partners and supporters around the world.
Greenhouse was appointed to develop a refreshed brand, digital platform and communications assets that would position the coalition as the leading voice for high seas coral reef conservation.

Our approach and strategy
Greenhouse developed a brand and digital strategy that balanced scientific credibility with compelling storytelling, helping the Coalition communicate its mission with greater clarity and impact.
The work focused on creating a flexible visual identity that could showcase groundbreaking research while highlighting the people, places and biodiversity the Coalition exists to protect.
Key elements of the strategy included:
• Developing a refreshed visual identity that built on the existing logo while creating a distinctive and cohesive brand system.
• Designing and building a new website that brought together the Coalition’s research, resources, campaigns and events in one accessible platform.
• Creating launch assets and social media templates that extended the new identity across digital channels.
• Delivering the rebrand in time to support international momentum around the High Seas Treaty entering into force.

Work Delivered
Greenhouse delivered a complete visual identity and digital communications platform for the Coral Reefs High Seas Coalition.
The refreshed brand combines striking photography, scientific imagery and bold editorial design to tell the story of one of the world’s least understood marine ecosystems. The website was designed to make complex research more accessible, helping policymakers, partners and supporters explore the Coalition’s work through engaging stories, interactive content and practical resources.
Alongside the website, we developed a suite of branded communications assets and social media templates, ensuring the Coalition could communicate consistently across campaigns, events and stakeholder engagement.

Outcomes and impact
The project established a modern, distinctive identity that reflects the Coalition’s role as a global leader in high seas coral reef conservation.
The new brand and website provide a flexible platform for communicating complex science, supporting international advocacy and strengthening collaboration across a diverse network of conservation organisations. Designed for long-term use, the visual identity enables the Coalition to tell compelling stories about biodiversity, ocean protection and the communities connected to these remarkable ecosystems.
The work also ensured the Coalition launched its refreshed identity at a critical moment for international ocean policy, helping it communicate with greater confidence as attention focused on the implementation of the High Seas Treaty.

Why this work matters
Protecting biodiversity beyond national borders depends on global collaboration. By giving the Coral Reefs of the High Seas Coalition a stronger brand, clearer messaging and a more accessible digital presence, Greenhouse helped transform a network of experts into a recognisable public voice for one of the world’s most important conservation challenges.
“I have never before partnered with a more organized, committed and creative group of people. I would highly recommend Greenhouse to any organisation looking for communications help. It is a pleasure to work with them, they go above and beyond, and each deliverable illustrates how much time, effort and love they put into their craft.”
