Nearly half of the world’s 500 biggest investors – pension funds, insurers, wealth funds, foundations/endowments – are taking no action leaving funds worth $14.3 trillion exposed to climate risk. Driving awareness of climate risk in the investment community is crucial to increasing levels of disclosure to change investment behaviour.
Solution
Launched Global Climate 500 Index 2016, rating world’s 500 largest investors with assets worth $38 trillion on their track record of managing climate risk in portfolios. We recognised the leaders and shamed the laggards, highlighting the need for action to protect the savings and financial security of hundreds of millions of people.
Result
Resulted in >200 media articles in major international broadcast, newswires, nationals and industry media across 15 countries globally – including BBC Business TV, Bloomberg, Reuters, FT, New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, The Australian, Die Welt and Le Monde. Resulted in >46k article shares.
