We Feed the World

Launching at the Bargehouse Gallery on London’s Southbank this Friday (12 October), We Feed the World is a global photography initiative capturing the triumphs and tribulations of the smallholder farmers who produce 70% of the world’s food.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a ten-day programme of talks, films and workshops by international activists in the food and farming movement, artists and leading campaign groups – the full itinerary is available here.

1) What role does the media play in shaping the future of our food and farming system?

Friday 12 October 1.15-2.15pm, Bargehouse Gallery

How does the media shape the world around us – including the food we find on our tables and what happens to our fields, forests and waters? John Vidal, former Environment Editor at The Guardian, Jenny Briggs from Greenhouse PR and eminent photographer Sophie Gerrard come together to discuss how to tell stories for a fairer, more socially just and ecologically healthy food system. Find out more.

2) Vegan, Vegetarian or Carnivore: What’s best for people, planet, and me?

Saturday 13 October 2.00-3.00pm, Bargehouse Gallery

Join prominent vegetarian and Green and Blacks founder, Craig Sams, vegan actress and model, Tallulah Harlech, and Tom Hunt, chef and food writer, to debate this hot topic and how we can make the most conscious, healthy and happy choices within our food and farming culture. 3) Can business help the Food Revolution?

Guy Watson from Riverford Organic, and representatives from Crepes and Waffles, Rebel Kitchen and B Corp will be joining us to host a conversation about the relationship between business and the environment. Can and should businesses take responsibility in fostering a socially and environmentally just food and farming system? This talk is chaired by John Vidal, former Environment Editor at The Guardian. We have loved being involved in this ambitious collaboration between the arts, environmental and business sectors, who have come together for the first time to share the inspiring stories of regenerative agriculture across the world.
