London Climate Action Week 2022 is live!

Greenhouse Communications is proud to support London Climate Action Week 2022. From the 25 June – 3 July this year, LCAW will bring Londoners together for a week of more than 150 events across a range of sectors including the arts, community, education, local authorities, business sectors, and the City, to create cutting-edge solutions to climate change.

This year will mark the first time that London Climate Action Week is back in person since 2019, as the pandemic turned the event into a highly successful virtual conference from 2020. Organisers are inviting Londoners to take part in the weeklong event as well as the international community to participate in a selection of hybrid and online events.

London Climate Action Week coincides with the G7 this year and will focus on how to deliver on the promises of COP26 in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war, the cost-of-living crisis and the food and energy shortage.

“Governments, investors, NGOs and businesses made impressive promises at COP26. At London Climate Action Week, we’ll take stock of progress and push for more ambitious commitments at COP27. During the week, we will be having the hard conversations to ensure we remain committed to ambitious climate goals and align with issues such as rising living costs, the Russia-Ukraine war, and shortages of food and energy.

We are excited to invite people to come together in person this year in London. We want to harness London as a global centre of climate expertise and innovation with a strong and growing climate cluster to tackle climate issues throughout the week and beyond.”

Nick Mabey, Chief Executive of E3G

As one of the world's largest independent climate events, London Climate Action Week will showcase London as the leading example of how the whole of society can come together to drive climate action. London, which has set the ambitious target of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2030, also has the world’s greatest concentration of businesses and non-profit organisations working to deliver a transition to a climate resilient world.

Analysis by WPI Economics finds that by 2030, there could be 505,000 green jobs in the capital, reaching over a million by 2050 - predominantly in the Green Finance, Homes and Buildings and Power sectors. This is up from our current estimated 234,300 green jobs, The London Climate Cluster is flourishing and with London Climate Action Week as its key calendar moment annually.

The events during the week will explore four themes, showcasing the ideas, technologies, people, and policies needed to move beyond net-zero. The themes are:

  • Driving Green, Fair and Resilient Climate Transitions
  • The Road to COP27 on Adaptation and Ambition
  • Creating a Sustainable Net Zero London
  • Whole of Society Climate Mobilisation

“London Climate Action Week is a unique opportunity to scale-up critical solutions. It’s not about 2050, it’s about what we’re doing this year to deliver the 2030 Breakthroughs”.

Nigel Topping, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion at COP26
