Chris Packham calls for Nature Friendly Farming

We were very excited to meet Chris Packham at Papley Farm in Cambridgeshire last weekend, who visited the farm to meet Martin Lines, Chairman of the Nature Friendly Farmers Network.
More than 70% of land in the UK is farmland. But only 1-2% of the countryside is managed under nature conservation. Over the last fifty years after intensive farming we have lost more than 50% of farmland birds.
As part of his Bioblitz tour across the UK, Chris Packham was down on the farm to show his support for UK farmers and the positive impact that nature friendly farming can have on wildlife and the environment.

Greenhouse was responsible for creating substantial impact in the media – generating 240 articles across national and regional media. Significant articles on the benefits of nature friendly farming appeared in the Daily Express, BBC News and ITV Anglia. Local media attended the event and ran a series of features about the need for farmers to protect wildlife for future generations.
Martin Lines, Chairman of the Nature Friendly Farming Network, said: “Without the contacts and professional help that Greenhouse PR has given us we would not be where we are today. Momentum is really starting to build, and the Network is now a united voice for farmers across the UK who believe that they can create positive impact on wildlife and the environment.”
Nature at the heart of farming policy
In January Greenhouse launched the Nature Friendly Farming Network, which united hundreds of farmers across the UK who want nature to be at the heart of future farming policy. Since then we have also launched NFFN in Scotland and Wales. The network is now an important political voice influencing policy for the Agricultural Bill.
