Celebrating Earth Day 2020: How you can support climate action

Greenhouse

Today is EARTH DAY LIVE – and the theme is climate action. Let’s create the momentum for essential change today, on the 50th anniversary.  We can make a better world for everyone. Tell everyone you know about April 22 and join us at earthday.org.

This year Earth Day 50 is going digital for the first time, with 24 hours of climate action. We may be separated but we can all demand bold action for people and the planet.

Together, we can flood the world with hope, optimism and action to show leaders it’s time to listen to the people and push for action at every level of society.  Today, we must come together to avoid the ever-pressing threat of climate and ecological breakdown.

Earth Day 2020 will drive actions big and small, give diverse voices a platform and demand bold action for people and the planet.

And this is far more than just a day. It is a historic moment when citizens of the world rise up in a united call for the creativity, innovation, ambition, and bravery that we need to meet our climate crisis and seize the enormous opportunities of a zero-carbon future.

We will be demanding that leaders take science seriously, listen to their people and push for action at every level of society to stop the rising tide of climate change.

Why is Earth Day important?

The enormous challenges — and the vast opportunities — of acting on climate change, are the focus for the 50th anniversary.

At the end of 2020, nations will be expected to increase their national commitments to the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change.

The time is now for citizens to call for greater global ambition to tackle our climate crisis.  Every country in the world is stepping up pressure with urgency and ambition.

How you can take part …

As citizens across the globe rise up to strike, vote and act, we will create a historic moment in history and seize the enormous opportunities of a zero-carbon future.

No matter where you are, you can make a difference

How are brands and organisations participating?

Many companies are already leading the charge on climate action. At Greenhouse, we’re proud to work with a diverse group of pioneers for whom every day is Earth Day.

Here are how some of our favourite organisations are getting involved with Earth Day 2020:

  • Patagonia, together with Sunrise Movement, has put together a list of climate actions we can all do from home. From connecting with local grassroots environmental groups to donating. What will you do #WhileAtHome?
  • Ben & Jerry’s is using their ice cream to highlight the impact a few degrees warming will have on our planet.
  • LUSH shares tips on how to be an indoor activist.
  • Triodos is part of Earth Day Switch, a global movement switching to safer banks and energy services for Earth Day 2020.

Let’s flood the digital landscape with action. Take part in the conversation online using #EarthDay and #EarthDay2020. We’ll be sharing actions from the Greenhouse team on Twitter.

And tune into Earth Day Live on April 22 -24 to watch, discuss and participate in a livestream featuring stories, performances and opportunities for digital collective action.

While Earth Day may be going digital, our goal remains the same: to mobilize the world to take the most meaningful actions possible to change the world.

No matter where you are, you can make a difference.
